Exporting Users & Groups
You may want to export the names of users from your Users & Groups
Data File so that you can import their names on another computer
running an AppleShare IP server.
|
To export users, follow these steps: |
1 |
Open the Web & File Admin program, if it's not already open. |
2 |
Choose Show Users & Groups List from the Users menu. |
|
The Users & Groups List window appears. |
3 |
Select one or more users or groups from the list. |
|
To choose everyone in the list, choose Select All from the Edit
menu. |
|
Note: If you select a group, the names of individual users in the group
are exported, not the group. Guest cannot be exported. |
4 |
Choose Export Users and Groups from the File menu. |
|
A save dialog box appears. |
5 |
Type a name for the exported file and locate the folder in which
you want to save it. |
6 |
Click Save. |
|
The Export Users dialog box appears. |
|
 |
7 |
Under Export Attribute, click the checkbox for each attribute
you want to export. |
|
If none of the attributes are checked, the exported file will
contain only the names of users. Make a note of the attributes
that you export. You'll need to specify them later when you import
the file. |
|
Note: To export the e-mail attributes, you must also export the Internet
alias. |
|
IMPORTANT: For security reasons, you cannot export users' passwords. To add
them back manually, see Editing a Data File That Was Exported. Or, after you've imported the data file, see Changing User Names, Internet Aliases, or Passwords. |
8 |
Click OK. |
|
The export file is saved. To import this file on another computer
that runs AppleShare IP, see Importing User Files. |
